Dual Alternating Water Softeners

Dual alternating water softener includes our signature series metered control valve, engineered to provide greater efficiency, by-pass valve to isolate the unit if necessary, pipe fitting, two pressure tanks, brine tank to contain the softener salt, ion exchange resin. The dual alternating valve is metered, and it calculates when regeneration is required. The regeneration process is described as follows:

 

  • Regeneration process is an upward flow to remove any minerals to clean the resin.
  • Brine draw/ rinse: This is an important step as brine water flows through the resin bed to remove the hardness mineral. During this process, hardness minerals like iron, magnesium, calcium became unattached from the resin and are attracted to water softener resin.
  • After this, flow-up cycle cleans the salt using ion exchange system.
  • Lastly, an additional cycle runs to rinse off the resin in a down flow direction.

 

How Dual Alternating Water Softener Works?

  • This system has two resin tanks and one valve. When one tank is operation other stays in standby.
  • First water flows from resin bed in the first tank, hardness minerals get attracted and removed from the water.
  • Over the time due to ion exchange, the resin reaches its capacity and must be cleaned or regenerated.
  • The control valve initiated the cleaning process based on gallons.
  • Once the first tank goes into regeneration, the valve switches the flow to the second tank.
  • During the regeneration process, brine water flows through the first resin tank and hardness minerals become attached to sodium in brine water.
  • While the first tank is going through regeneration, the second tank becomes operational ensuring continuous flow of water.
